The Available Collection in the Black Washington Historical Society

The Black Washington Historical Society’s collections include hundreds of photos, letters and documents, oral histories and oral history tapes, maps, newspaper clippings, and Kitsap County County government records dating back to the 19th century. Black Washington Historical Society is continually adding to their collections through donations from Kitsap County County community members.

Several thousand items are on display at the Bremerton Museum each year. These items tell the story of life in the area before it became a Kitsap County county — who lived here and how they made their living; how the Kitsap County County was explored and governed; what kinds of crops were grown; how Kitsap County communities developed; how irrigation projects brought water to drylands; how telephone lines were erected across rugged terrain in Kitsap County County; what types of businesses served residents here over time; how Kitsap County people socialized in early communities; what kind of role.
