Gig Harbor Peninsula Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located at 4218 Harborview Drive, Gig Harbor, Washington, 98332. The Gig Harbor Peninsula Historical Society was formed in 1940, and its mission is to collect, preserve and share historical records, photographs, artifacts, and other materials related to the history of Pierce County County, Washington.
The Gig Harbor Peninsula Historical Society operates a museum at the historic Gig Harbor City Hall building. It also maintains a research library composed primarily of donated books on Gig Harbor history. Gig Harbor history books are available for sale.

Several thousand items are on display at the Gig Harbor Museum each year. These items tell the story of life in the area before it became a Pierce County county — who lived here and how they made their living; how the Pierce County County was explored and governed; what kinds of crops were grown; how Pierce County communities developed; how irrigation projects brought water to drylands; how telephone lines were erected across rugged terrain in Pierce County County; what types of businesses served residents here over time; how Pierce County people socialized in early communities; what kind of role.
